Pattaya Trip

Friday, March 5, 2010 we went to fountain of life and we met with Sister Joan and Sr. Susaporn. We stayed at the fountain of life and we did activity with kids. Adult group went to women center and the reason why we are stay at the fountain of life, I think is because the adult thought that we are too young to know are see the woman. We might act toward them in bad way. But I disagree with this because I grow enough to know are see this fact. When we teach English to the children we found that they had very hard time to memory what we teach, so we make the game easier than what we prepare at first. We had interview with Khun Nui; she is the person that I had learned a lot of things from her. I am really admired on her because she is very strong woman even she doesn’t have arms and legs. Also she lose her father and her stepmother not really nice to her but she still happy with her live, she can do everything like normal person. What issues that I saw in Fountain of life, Father Ray Day Care Center, and Pattaya Orphanage are similar because most of children have similar background such as their parent was apprehend because they were selling drug. Some of their parent was past away or some of their parent leaves them with grandparent. I was surprise of what I saw because what I thought is that they must be very quite, sad, or scare of us. But they are happy; they feel that the place was their second home. The people who do this job were sacrificing themselves to help those children rather than find a better job. I really impress that we have this kind of person in our society.

The Fountain Of Life

What I learn about the Fountain of life is they are few groups that help the children who have no parent to take care and some of them are homeless. Even though they are just a few groups but what they did is very powerful and helps other a lot. I would like to know about the number of children, how do they take care of them? Do they have enough people who work in the center? Who is the sponsor? And how long is this center has been initiated?

In my opinion of what am I seeing the world is unfair, because some of good person was tread badly and don't have that much choice for their life. For example, one of the girl in Thailand she is a very good girl, take care of their parent well but she couldn’t study because her family is poor and her parent have hard disease. Also the man who helps poor people and helps others to find their fairness was killed because of the business problem. This is what I think about the world because the news mostly shows about this kind of events.

What is social justice?

Social justice is mean that everyone have right to do or to choose what ever they want to make their life equally with others in the society. Also make sure that everyone are equal, if not we can help them to make their life be coming better than before. For example, we can give the donation things or money and we can do the community service to help them.

Canteen Reflection

On the day that Ms. Sue came to our class and we had discussion about how to develop our canteen. Chika and Kie took the picture and video of the canteen during break time and lunch time, so we let Ms. Sue watched that video. After that we had see a lot of the problem that we should fix such as not fresh food, not enough chair, queuing, and others. These made my personal values were affected by this experience of beliefs about helping others because if we complete this project it will very important and comfortable to everyone. For the reason that everyone will not waste too many time for have lunch. Some of student cannot have lunch because they don’t have enough time to eat. This experience increased my understanding of team player because we have to help each other to complete this project and other attention to make this project done. I expect to lean how to make customer gratify of food.

Donation Sale

Today we have a donation sale for Philippine. We take lunch time and the end of school for sailing. The reason why we do this because Philippine people the huge flood came to Philippine, they are many poor people got injured and they do not have enough money to make everything again so we have the donation sale for helping them. I beliefs about helping others is a very braw. You will never know how important of the money that we donate for them can save their life. This experience increased my understanding of team player. About 5000 bath from the donation sale is come from our willful that we want to help the Philippine people. I had learned that to get the money is very hard but what the problem which Philippine people face as it was harder. So we have to cooperate to help them from the problem.

Oct 10th: Community Service

I had the community service on Oct 10th. At that day, we still did the T-shirt design but on that they the school have SAT test so we had to took the art class for doing the activity. The problem is we didn’t have enough T-shirt for the children do the children who already did our activity have to do another activity, but most of them want to do my activity. That made me felt impress and surprise that they like our activity. My personal values were affected by this experience. That make people feel happy and have fun is very good thing because I also felt happy that I can do something to make someone feel good. This experience increased your understanding of the ESLRs in team player. We help the children to design the T-shirt and I let Chika and Kana explain to the children more than the community service on Oct 3rd, so they know what is going on and feel like they are also be part of the group even they are speak in difference language. I had learned that care people feeling is very important because they will not feel that they are useless and not enjoy with the activity.

Oct 3rd: community service

We had the community service on the October 3rd; in my group we did the T-Shirt design activity. We toke out side of building to work because we need to use the color so we don’t want the color muddy up on the floor. We had two groups of Minburi Children and they were about 15-18 of ages because we had a big side of T-Shirt, so the little kids could not do our activity. The purpose of why we did this activity is we want the children to have fun and learn sometime in this activity such as name of color in English, to help each other to design the T-shirt, and be creative. I believe that to help each other and to help as much as we can is a very important. This experience increased me understanding more about team player and caring global citizen. In the team player we had to help each other to design or give an idea. I caring global citizen because we tell them to use and save the material correctly, so we can use it again and we will not waste the money or things that much. In the next time, I will improve more about the way we can design to make it more interesting. I will make sure that we have enough material and what do they require for. Because in my group have two Japanese, so while we doing this activity I had learn that I have to translate and explain what is going on in the activity so they might not felt out of the group.

Planning for the community service

In the class, we discuss about what Mrs. Sue responded and what we had learn about the Minburi children. We made a poster for planning for the community service. We got a lot of activities for them such as playing sport, cooking, singing, dancing, teaching English, create something like making a T-Shirt or drawing some pictures, and others. By these, we will cooperate to do it and we can sell our produce or ask for the donation. These are the way that my group had discusses the way we can help them earn more money and it might useful for them to do these things, so they can help themselves.

The Minburi children

In the class, we ask Mrs. Sue the question about the community service of Minburi children. In the discussion, I had learn that most of Minburi children is Muslim, in each family have about 4-5 of children but their parent earn 230 baht per day, they don’t have enough food, don’t have enough area for play, they love English, they love to swim, and etc…
The projects that we can do is we can help them by teach English for them, make activities that they like for them such as swimming, cooking, baking, playing sport, and others. We also can donate some money for things for them.

Last week, I had read the article of a woman who sacrifices herself to be a teacher and teach the Orange Rimba, forest people, and living there rather than working in the city for helping those people and saving the nature. The purpose of read this article is to know someone can make a different and try to do the right thing that just a few people can do. This experiment made me felt surprise because if I was her, I sure that I couldn’t do what she did. She made me surer about helping people who really need help is a perfect and worthwhile thing to do, also helping nature because nature is a very important to every living thing in the world and she tried to stop who was destroy the nature especially humans. When I had read this article, it made me more clearly about Caring Global Citizen. She exactly cares about people who don’t have choice to do what they want like others. She also care about nature, she train Orange Rimba people to help an NGO keep track of illegal logging. By this experiment, is showing me to do something in content for working with others and have braved to stand up for doing the right thing.

Before Discussion:
I think teaching them on English skill and make something fun for them by substantial such as singing an English song and play some games that increasing their English skill.

Discussion:
We talking about what do they need and what we can do for them. We have many different opinions about helping children such as, donate things for them, give them the money, and teach them new skills so their can help themselves.

After discussion:
I also agree that we can donate things for them because some things that we not use any more, it might important to them. I also want to teaching them on English skill, in my opinion I thing that English skill is very important to every body in the present and in the future. Even they don’t have choice to study so we must help them by teach the English skill. We can make it in the fun way by playing game.
